The Guba District Court sentenced a veteran of the Second Karabakh War — a resident of the village of Jack, Quba district — to eight days’ administrative detention under Article 510.2 of the Code of Administrative Offenses (insulting a law enforcement official). Judge Ibrahim Gazibeyov issued the ruling on 23 September.
A police officer testified that the defendant had posted offensive language directed at a police officer from his TikTok account. Police took him to the Guba District Police Department, where they drew up an administrative offense report. He was initially held, then released, then re-detained and brought before the court.
In court, the defendant confirmed that the account and comments were his. He told the court that he had participated in the 2020 Karabakh War, was wounded twice by gunfire, suffered a concussion, and received six military medals. He said that after returning from service, police repeatedly stopped and held him for extended periods despite his proper electronic clearances, and that he wrote the comment out of frustration. He asked the court not to impose a penalty.
The court treated his combat record, military awards, admission of the act, and expression of remorse as mitigating factors, but concluded that a fine alone would be insufficient. It imposed eight days’ administrative detention.
